The Brief:
A well-known preschool in Pratts Bottom in Kent was in desperate need of an all year round play area for the children.
Another landscaper had been in to prepare the ground and tried to say that the before picture was an acceptable base for us to lay on.
It’s never nice to tell someone that work has been done badly but we had to let the manager know that there was no way this base was something we could lay our grass on!
Our Work:
It was agreed we would start the job from scratch. We dug down 4 inches and built up the base with Type 1 and granite dust. Of course the base included a weed membrane and timber fixings
A massive 14 tonnes of aggregates was needed to provide solid foundations for the new grass.
The school chose the Knoll for its hard wearing qualities. All that was let now was for the children to get out and play on the new artificial grass!
