Fitting artificial grass on to decking

The Brief:

The decking in this garden in Sidcup, Kent was simply too overwhelming. It sapped all the life out of the garden making it look very bland even though the borders and plants in the garden were well maintained. We were asked for an affordable solution to replace the decking with artificial grass.

Our Work:

To save money for the home owner we kept the existing decking and simply fit our artificial grass directly on top of it. This was possible because of a number of factors:

1. The decking was in good condition and had recently been treated with oil
2. The decking was nice and flat
3. It drained well
4. The decking timbers were narrow which would reduce the chance of it showing through the grass.
5. The Knoll artificial grass was chosen for its dense fibres which again would reduce the chance of the decking timbers showing through the grass.

To install it we joined several lengths of grass together using joining tape to create one large artificial grass carpet. We then nail gunned the artificial grass carpet to the decking to keep it in place.
