Creating the wow factor with artificial grass

The Brief:

Over the past 14 years I have installed artificial grass in hundreds of different locations. Every now and then we do a job that has amazing results and we are able to create the wow factor. I really think this job in my home town of Sidcup, Kent has this wow factor. See what you think.

Describing exactly what the wow factor is is not easy but I will explain my thoughts on it. The garden has the lot – good straight solid lines along 3 sides and nice sublime curves down the other. Surrounding the lawn there is an array of beautiful structural planting. The artificial grass flows naturally from one end of the garden to the other ending with it wrapping itself beautifully around the quaint summer house.

Our Work:

You can see the flow of work in the photos below. To create the wow factor in this garden we began by putting in place timber fixings around the perimeter before adding 24 tonnes of aggregates. The timbers would define the curves and stop the aggregates from being able to move. Movement could cause sinking and the shape to be lost. A final layer of granite dust was added and compacted in.

The grass fitted was the Knoll which is fantastic value at  just £21.95 sqm inc vat.
