Artificial grass as a school playground surface in Kent

The Brief:

Lessness Heath School in Belverdere, Kent had a concrete play area that they wanted to make more inviting for the kids to play on. Whilst concrete is a practical surface and relatively inexpensive it doesn’t look great and the concrete surface causes lots of injuries. They decided on artificial grass as their new school playground surface for it is soft and is proven to reduce the number of impact injuries.

Our Work:

Before starting the school playground surface installation we gave the area a thorough clean up by removing all debris. Because the paving slabs were in good condition and there was decent drainage we were able to lay the artificial grass directly on top of the paving. The school chose the Outfield artificial grass product because it is able to recover well after being trodden on and its 25mm pile provides a nice soft cushion effect to catch any falls.
